Our love of Burmese cats started with the
purchase of our first pet Burmese Teal'c in December 2000.
He is a beautiful chocolate Burmese with a lovely friendly,
chatty nature.
The Breeding Cattery was established in November 2002.
We began by purchasing
two breeding Queens from a cattery that was going to cease
breeding Burmese.
The two Queens we
originally purchased were Catrest Betty Boop, pet name
Cocoa, a chocolate Burmese and Killishandra Xybelline, pet
name Gally, a Seal Burmese.
Our original Stud cat
was Brampets Sheridan Star, pet name Star, a Seal Burmese.
Later we purchased
Brampets Aquasheeba, pet name Sheeba a Blue Burmese
We continued with the
above cats for a time then we enlarged our breeding
numbers. We purchased a second stud as Star was sold back
to his original owner.
Brampet Arioch know as
Arioch is a Blue Burmese. He produced some lovely kittens
although didn’t give all the colours we were hoping for. He
became our “teaser” and is still a working boy.
We purchased a
beautiful stud boy Shinjamau Starbuck to replace him.
Starbuck was a seal Burmese carrying all the cololurs
including the cinnamon gene. We were very happy with him.
As our new stud
carried the cinnamon gene were also purchased another
queen. This time we purchased Lessintine Xtra Spicy a
cinnamon Mandalay.
We continued breeding
beautiful kittens with the stock we had and even kept a
couple of kittens from Sheeba from a mating done to a stud
outside our programme.
The kittens we kept
were Easternstar Maximillian, pet name Max a Seal Burmese
and Easternstar Milo, pet name Milo a Chocolate Burmese.
In January 2006 we
decided to stop breeding as it became to overwhelming. We
sold all our stock getting our beautiful Starbuck neutered
and re-homing him as a pet. The queens all except Max and
Milo were spayed and sold as pets.
I shed many tears as
they all left home. It was a heart wrenching time for me.
Max, Milo and Arioch went to live with a new Burmese
Breeder.
Well in 2007 it all
started again. I just missed the cats and kittens too
much. We arranged to purchase three new kittens to grow as
a breeding Queens. You will see photos and the names of
these queens on the Queens Page.
We were also contacted
by the person that had purchased Max, Milo and Arioch to say
she could no longer keep the cats due to her personal health
issues so we were able to buy them back.
Sadly the beautiful
Seal Stud boy we purchased proved not to carry the chocolate
gene. He has been replaced by another beautiful Seal
Burmese carrying both the Blue and Chocolate genes. You can
see the new stud boys details and photo on the
Stud page.
Over the few years we
have been breeding we have had many joyous times and also a
few tears. Burmese steal your heart and when they leave you
to go to another home or Pussy Cat Heaven they break your
heart.
We still have our pet
boy Teal'c and he has now been joined by a Blue Burmese
sister called “Mouse”. She is also chatty and friendly and
full of mischief.
